Founded By a Skater
Engage Athletic Director and Founder, Paul McAlister, skated inline competitively for over 15 years, including representing Australia at multiple championships. After completing an Engineering and Computer Science Double Degree, Paul founded Engage Athletic in 2004. This provided him with an avenue to combine his first-hand experience as an inline speed skating athlete with his specialised ability to design and manufacture the innovative custom sportswear required to win at top level. With the admirable attributes of passion, pride, unwavering determination and technical expertise, Paul always gives 110% effort towards providing the best quality gear to the Skate Australia team. A Detailed Process Across Disciplines
Over the years, Engage Athletic has provided the Australian Speed Team with custom sportswear including speed skating skin suits, team tracksuits, t-shirts and polo shirts, warm-up jackets, full zip leggings and shorts. These uniforms have been worn to events including World Roller Games, Youth Olympic Games and Oceania Championships. We work in consultation with Skate Australia management and top athletes to develop gear that surpasses athlete requirements. This process includes constantly refining garment patterns and seam placement for aerodynamic advantage and comfort, as well as identifying and implementing world-class aerodynamic fabrics hand-picked from Europe. In addition, we integrate key features such as full-length zips and rear pockets, and design creative eye-catching artwork so that Australian athletes stand out from the pack.
Along with the Australian inline speed skating team, we are now proudly working with Skate Australia on the unique requirements of the Australian artistic skating team, applying the same process that has lead to partnership success for inline. We are primarily focusing on perfecting tailoring and a unique design combination to create high-performing, stand-out leotards as well as accompanying custom sportswear including team tracksuits, t-shirts and polo shirts and warm-up jacket and full zip leggings.
